I’m the first poet in the 90 year tradition of Canadian war artists and I spent 18 months visiting the troops in the field watching them prepare for Afghanistan.
In November, I flew to Afghanistan to Kandahar Air Field, the base, then outside the wire to X in the middle of Taliban country. I wore my Blundstone Boots for thousands of hours while with the army and was choked to find out that Blundstone doesn’t make the lace ups any more! I recently bought slip-ons.
I love my Blundstone Boots (no shit) and am going to donate them to the war museum when I donate all of my notebooks sometime in the future.

Oh ya and I want to go to Australia because I’m so fucking tired and I need a big rest!

They’re my go-to and saviors in the snow, the rain and on the dance floor. By some happy circumstance my left and right boots don’t match- when I bought them I swear they were the same colour but after a few months of wear it became pretty clear than they weren’t! So, I hope this means that somewhere out there (possibly near the Boot Shop in St. Catharines, Ontario) I have a boot sole-mate who probably has just as many stories! Oddly though, it wasn’t until I moved to Saskatoon that people started to notice my mismatched feet- but all of them seemed pretty impressed. This picture is a few years old now, and while my Blundstone boots are a little more beat up they are no less amazing than they were on day 1, and I still love getting to check them out when I put my feet up where ever on the planet I happen to be.

I had noticed the soles were cracking, and so the next time I went in to the city, I took them with me to a shoe repair store-I was told they were not able to repair them, and I was choked-They are by far the most favorite boot I own and I didn’t want a new pair…I want my old boots back!
Hello,
I have worked as a registered nurse doing 12hr shift work in the downtown toronto hospitals since 1988 (which is when I moved to Canada from NYC, and purchased my FIRST pair of Blundstones soon after in the early 1990’s……) and the ONLY shoes I can wear that do not hurt are my broken in Blundstones. Every time I buy a new pair (I own 5 now, mostly chisel toes in black and brown, one green suede, and and one pair of RM Williams), the oldest pair is taken to my hospital locker and used as my nursing shoe until my toes literally break through, which happened only once. Yet I still couldn’t bring myself to throw them away (they are so comfortable and my feet never swell nor do my legs throb after my 12hr stint in the ICU!). I had them patched up on the inside, and managed to get another year and a half out of them, before the sole finally began to peel from the bottom. This was my very first pair and had been over a decade old. I don’t want to gross you out, but they had just spent too many hours getting wet and dirty in the OR…..

I am now on my second “old”pair, being used as a nursing shoe. Thank you for not making them in white:)

I bought my first pair of #500 black Blundstone boots when I was a 25 year old single girl living in Toronto in 1999. They took me through many walks along Yonge Street, a few boyfriends, and lots of adventures! This included my 30th birthday trip to the Grand Canyon with my twin sister, where I hiked down to the bottom and up again in my trusty and comfy Blundstone boots (see picture - they took a beating in the red muddy trails but easily saw me through this amazing experience). Since then, they’ve seen me on a trip to Thailand hiking through northern hillside trails, getting married and now I’m sitting here awaiting the birth of my second daughter….and I just bought my SECOND pair of Blundstone boots to see me through another amazing decade of life. After all, there’s nothing easier than pulling on some Blundstone boots when you’re trying to get out the door in slushy Toronto with two kids! Thanks Blundstone boots - here’s to more memories in the next 10 years!
